Cryolipolysis, otherwise known as fat freezing, works by permanently eliminating up to 30% of fat cells in a targeted area. During our Cryolipolysis treatment, fat cells are frozen down to a controlled temperature of -9 degrees where they undergo a process called apoptosis. This process causes a natural cell death achieved by a crystallisation of the fat cells.

Through the body’s natural inflammatory responses, these dead fat cells are then excreted through the lymphatic system as waste. This process occurs over approximately 12 weeks resulting in fewer fat cells and a diminished appearance to the treated area.

Many years ago, ‘Coolsculpting’ was first introduced in the US as a fat freezing procedure for permanent fat reduction. As science continued to evolve through research and development, new concepts started to appear in the industry.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?

Results can be seen after a single session, but for optimal results, most clients generally require 1-2 treatments. Depending on your body’s response, additional sessions may be recommended and typically spaced 8 weeks apart.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

You may start to notice a reduction in fat within 3-4 weeks of the treatment, with full results visible after 8-12 weeks. The body will continue to naturally eliminate the treated fat cells for up to 6 months post-treatment.

ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT?

Yes, once fat cells are frozen and eliminated, they do not return. However, maintaining your results requires a healthy lifestyle. Significant weight gain can cause remaining fat cells to expand in size however new cells cannot be recreated.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OR DOWNTIME?

Side effects are rare, but some patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, bruising, numbness, or tingling in the treated area. These symptoms usually resolve within a few days to weeks. There is no downtime, so you can resume normal activities immediately after your session.

CAN FAT FREEZING BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes, fat freezing can be combined with other body contouring treatments such as HIFU for enhanced results. Your therapist will provide you with tailored advice to assist you in achieving your desired result.

IS FAT FREEZING SAFE?

Yes, Cryolipolysis is TGA/FDA approved and considered safe when performed by trained professionals. It is a non-surgical procedure with minimal risk. However, as with any treatment, there may be side effects, which are generally mild and temporary.

DOES FAT FREEZING HURT?

The procedure is generally comfortable, but you may experience intense cold during the first few minutes. This sensation is often followed by a numbness in the treated area. Once the area becomes numb, the treatment is usually not painful. Some mild discomfort, such as tingling or aching, may occur after the session as the area warms up.

Rest assured that there are very little preparations prior to your fat freezing treatment.

We have listed a couple of personal recommendations that you may wish to follow below; 

• Wear relaxed, loose fitted clothing for increased comfort. 

• Allow yourself plenty of time to get to the studio to avoid any unnecessary stresses. 

• Bring along a form of entertainment such as a book, magazine, iPad or phone to watch your favourite movie/show in your private room. We encourage you to relax and enjoy this time to yourself! 

• We strongly recommend eating a light meal prior to your appointment and abstaining from caffeinated drinks for a minimum of 2 hours before and after a treatment. 

• Make a conscious effort to start drinking a minimum of 2 litres of water a day - especially post treatment. This is an important habit to form as it supports your lymphatic functions. 

• Abstain from taking any anti inflammatory medications 1-2 days before treatment and atleast 7 days post treatment.

• Abstain from alcohol for 24 hours before and after a treatment. 

• You will be provided with warm blankets and refreshments as we invite you to recharge and nourish your body during this experience.

• Flushed or Red Skin (Erythema): temporary redness caused by extreme cold, which typically subsides shortly after treatment.

• Mild Side Effects: You may experience slight puffiness, tenderness, bruising, or skin texture changes in the treated area. These effects are usually mild and temporary, resolving within a few days.

Our Cryolipolysis treatment is best treated on stubborn pockets of fat that are often resistant to diet and exercise.
